Well I only froze a little. My hands are still icy and I got off the water over an hour ago. Jamie asked me today if I found seat racing REALLY boring. I guess it's a little boring, talk about being along for the ride. But it's the only time I get to think about steering and that's it.

I do need to work on steering especially because the eights haven't been going to straight lately. During seat races I also get a feel for the boat and I get to think a little more than I normally would. Since we seat race in bowloaders I can make funny faces when I get tsunamied (BIG waves splashing on my face or down my clothes) or screw up steering, without feeling stupid. The pieces went okay, I think we did 6 or so.

Seat racing again on Monday. We'll see how it goes. Hopefully fast and calm. I am so tired! UGGGH!!! I start school on Monday and I was just getting into this whole time off thing. Damn. Have a good weekend everyone. Enjoy your sleep!!! Maybe my foot can stand the treadmill tomorrow. Hmmm.

Blair, Maybe this isn't the most appropriate place to put this but you said you'd value any response. I have been having a totally crappy week not to ***** or anything though. I S-U-C-K in the boat! But sarah and Jen both weighed in about 10-15 pounds over. I have been working with colby and this freaks me out. Shouldn't I be in the like 4th boat at least??? I have a whole bunch of the lightweights and paige in my boat and they are all really nice and everything since they know I was just a novice last year but It still is kind of odd since I "dont do anything righjt" and paige is a typical six seat, bitchy. I am sort of hoping that colby isn't trying to line me up for the JV because of my weight. Do you think I should tell someone? well, besides libby. I would feel really bad if that was why I was boated. --Danielle

Danielle, I have had Coby as a coach for two years and I think that weight is not a issue, Jen and Sarah both try very hard, I know for a fact that Jen and Sarah are busting thier a**es to cut weight. I say trust Coby and everything will work out. Don't worry about Paige, I swear I heard her shit talk about me in the bathroom yesterday. For some reason a few of the girls are stil pissed off that I chose JV guys over heavy girls.

For the girls, if they ***** you out on anything, tell them firmly that you are trying your best and you would value ANY feedback they have but to give it to you off the water and in a calm, supportive, HELPFUL way. They typically respond very well to this. As a former rower, I had a coxn one season that pissed me off so much (being a coxn for the masters at the same time) that there wasn't one boat meeting that niether of us left crying. She almost walked me into the water at Brentwood because she wasn't paying any attention. If she had let me know that she was trying her hardest and to give her supportive feedback and could take the feedback, not cry and actually use it, there would have been a lot less crying done by the both of us. Hope that helps. Good Luck!
